	Overview document: This document was prepared by Liz Taylor, President of DOER Marine, at the inception of the Deepsearch project to convey the need for such a research tool as Deepsearch as well as provide some background history on deep diving vessels.
	Flotation Summary: This document details some preliminary analysis related to the potential use of hollow silicon carbide and alumina ceramic spheres for flotation. The ceramic spheres are compared to conventional high grade syntactic foam in terms of cost and added buoyancy efficiency. Some packing configurations were also investigated.
	Glass Summary: This document summarizes some of DOER’s early investigation on the possible use of glass for construction of the personnel sphere for full ocean depth dives. Contents include a list of engineering concerns related to the use of glass for full ocean depth work, some computer stress modeling, and some selected notes from the various we sought out and consulted with.
